Cataracts are the leading cause of blindness worldwide. Unlike other vision conditions, it can’t be corrected with glasses or contact lenses. Up to date, the only treatment for cataracts is removing the cloudy lens and replacing it with an intraocular lens through surgery.

More than one in 10 people in the U.S. wear contact lenses for a clearer vision. However, it was found that 40 to 90 percent of wearers are not practicing healthy contact lens wear habits. The American Optometric Association (AOA) says that improper contact lens use can result in rare, serious eye infections.
